08/14/07 Young Women Turning Carnivore

Beef has been on my mind this week, from the shortage of steaks in the big Apple to the fact that women have turned carnivore. LA and New York City spawn the majority of new trends with one of latest being the fact that young women in their twenties and thirties are leaving the vegan movement in droves and ordering beef especially on first dates to impress their partners. A recent New York Times article cautioned that a woman's menu selection could impact whether or not she get asked out for a second date . Apparently ordering a tiny salad sends the message that not only would you be high maintenance, and finicky, you are most likely self absorbed , preoccupied with your weight, and prissy a definite turn off for most guys . Conversely if a woman orders the cowboy cut rib steak on that immediately conveys that this lady is someone to be reckoned with, down to earth, approachable and not& thank heavens &.wimpy. Yet the woman who really wants to make a lasting impression will order the big juicy burger showing she is not only fun, and savvy but a cheap date as well.
