LOVEJOY … “Well, the families that choose to show up and have facilitated sessions, they somewhat self-select because they’re willing to step into the room together. And I like to say, my little tag line is “little shifts are big wins.”
And then, Lovejoy says find “something” you can agree on …
LOVEJOY … “Absolutely, and to look and say what are those priorities? What are we going to prioritize? What really matters? What’s a hill to die on? Everything else, that can take care of itself.”
Lovejoy says be curious, because you just might learn something …
LOVEJOY … “Often surprised. Good surprises and not-so-good surprises, but when we allow ourselves to be curious, that’s when we can say, oh, I didn’t have all the information here. I was working on partial information and that usually leads to assumptions that are just false.”
But Lovejoy says things look different for every family …
LOVEJOY … “There’s certain best practices and principles but every family has such a different scenario that to say, oh, just do this, this and this, that’s not going to be helpful when a family has a tendency in this direction or that direction. It’s where are they, who are they? Now we can tailor it.”
