Sorghum Industry Optimistic About Growing Interest In Their Crop

“Trade is a huge issue. China is our number one market. However, we don't want all of our eggs in one basket. So not only are we continuing to. I use the theme of I continued to date, my wife, we've been married 17 years, but I still take her out on dates, and she's still willing to go on dates with me. So that's even better. But we continue to date China, we're in China, we're working on trade relations with China, we're making sure our end users are getting the product that they need. But not only are we dating China, we're also dating other places too.”
Meeker says another market opportunity that could increase the desire to plant sorghum is sustainable aviation fuel.
“The things that I was doing in India was kind of like planting trees of shade that I will never see. It may be the next generation. But it could also be very quick that we see the fruits of our labor in India. It's 1.4 billion people. And I would love to have access to a 1.4 billion people market. And so we're working very hard with Sorghum Growers and our sister organization, the sorghum checkoff to make sure that trade is top of mind that way that the producers that are producing this commodity have a great opportunity. Again, the value is their national.”
