If you haven't already, it's time to tune up that bird dog for the opening day of pheasant season. Pigeons are a great tool to train your bird dog and if you can, get homing pidgins. They'll usually fly back to the coop, which can be a good investment. Here's some instructional audio from Dogs Unlimited, on how to plant a bird. One import tip to remember when working a dog is that a dog can only smell half of the time because it has to also exhale air. So when you dog runs over a downed bird in plain sight, your dog might have missed the scent stream simply because it was exhaling as it ran by.
