Get ready for a fun filled tour and learning experience around The farm of Lola Fitzpatrick. Farmer Lola Fitz Patrick of Jerome loves teaching kids. On her farm each year she hosts kids from all over the Magic Valley with the intent of teaching them about agriculture."Today is our farm tour that I am putting on for the Jerome county farm bureau" Her passion to teach kids doesn't stop at the farm. Thanks to a grant from the American Farm Bureau, Lola is now allowing kids to access agriculture through a fun computer program called My American Farm."I am proud to represent the Farm Bureau in initiating a pilot project for the whole state because it is an easy exercise for education for the kids to learn about agriculture and to have fun doing it." Lola is training women leaders from the farm bureau committee so they can take the program to the kids back home. The game offers lessons on everything from equipment use in agriculture to animals that provide food for consumers. Lola has partnered up with computers for kids. This is in order to secure the computers that are necessary for her program."The computers are refurbished. We purchase them through computers for kids which is a non-prophet organization that helps get computers into the hands of kids who are not familiar with computers. They have no idea how to run them. Organizations and big companies donate their computers to these people so that they can get them into the hands of people who deserve them." Whether it is on the farm or in the classroom Lola says the kids need to know the real story about where their food comes from.
