It's a message you'll hear more and more as harvest time arrives in the the Pacific Northwest, and the nation. There is a glaring labor shortage. But as Representative Dan Newhouse points out, the shortage is impacting more than just the agriculture industry. He says Congress must act, and act wisely.

Newhouse says business are struggling to get workers, to even apply, regardless of wage. He acknowledges that immigration reform or changes to the H-2A program aren't likely before the November election, but says additional voices are calling for change. Newhouse added labor issues, aren't just important for businesses, but also for the health and wellbeing of communities across the region.

The AP headline read: Brexit, schmexit: Dow hits record high. The stock market reached another milestone yesterday as the Dow Jones industrial average closed at a record high of 18,347. A day earlier, the broader Standard & Poor's 500, a widely used benchmark for index funds, also reached a record-high close. Both indexes beat peaks set in May 2015. The Dow, which is made up of just 30 stocks, is an older and better-known barometer of the market than the S&P 500, but professional investors generally pay much closer attention to the S&P 500.
