Girl Scouts of Silver Sage have beenselling Girl Scout Cookies for decades. For many customers this is acan't miss sale that only lasts a short time -- from Jan. 15 to March 13 -- and the one time a year they can get their hands on a box of Thin Mints or Samoas. Along with the sale, there has always been an option for customers to donate a box of Girl Scout Cookies through the Cookies from the Heart program. Girl Scouts of Silver Sage donates these boxes to the Idaho Foodbank to help those in need.

This year United Dairymen of Idaho is partnering with Girl Scouts ofSilver Sage to make that donation go one step further. For every boxdonated to the Cookies from the Heart program, United Dairymen of Idaho will donate one gallon of milk, as well, giving customers an opportunity to double the impact of their charitable contribution. A $4.00 purchase will provide a box of Girl Scout Cookies and one gallon of milk to the Idaho Foodbank to help fight hunger in Idaho. Girl Scouts and their families are already hard at work preparing for the "Cookies and Milk" campaign. They have begun practicing their pitch and a few have even made videos highlighting why thie partnership is so important to them. Ella O, a Cadette Girl Scout, says there is a right way to eat a Girl Scout Cookie and that is to share it. "And here's the best part," Ella continued, "when you share, the United Dairymen of Idaho will share too!" Local Girl Scouts are excited to be partnering with United Dairymen of Idaho and learning what it means to give back to their community in a big way.

Starting Jan. 15, Girl Scouts will be out taking pre-orders and customers can begin purchasing Cookies from the Heart boxes. Girls will continue taking orders though out the sale but from Feb. 26 through March 13 Girl Scout troops will be at local retailers, including many Albertsons locations, selling boxes at their cookie booths. Customers can get all their favorites and make a donation -- just look for the cookies-and-milk decorated cookie box. In addition to traditional sales, Girl Scouts of Silver Sage is also participating in the Digital Cookie Program, which allows girls to sell online. These customers will also be able to take advantage of this double-donation opportunity. Whether the box is purchased online or in person, they can still donate to Cookies from the Heart. All Girl Scout Cookie purchases, donated or not, go to support girls and the mission of Girl Scouts -- to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. But a box of Cookies from the Heart puts that mission into practice. Visit GirlScouts-SSC.org for more information and to find where you can purchase a box of Cookies from the Heart.
