Alexis retires
The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Idaho will set aside up to $150,000 for the 2015 Conservation Innovation Grant (CIG) program, which funds projects that demonstrate innovative, on-the-ground conservation techniques and strategies.
Through CIG, Environmental Quality Incentives Program funds are used to award competitive grants to Indian Tribes, State and local units of government, non-governmental organizations, and individuals. Proposals may be submitted for projects between one and three years in duration. The maximum award amount for any project may not exceed $75,000.
Funds will specifically be targeted at projects that demonstrate:
· Innovative conservation technologies or agronomic techniques that address water and/or wind erosion on Highly Erodible Land.
· New techniques/approaches and/or technologies to improve Greater Sage-Grouse habitat or evaluate the effectiveness of habitat development projects on Greater Sage-Grouse populations.
Now for the news that is sad for me. I have been working with Public Affairs Specialist Alexis Collins for years and have always found her to be extremely pleasant, knowledgeable and, always available for comments on NRCS policies. I just learned that Alexis has retired. Great for her, sad for me. By the way, that's why no one else is talking in this story.
