Cattlemen invited to meet with NCBA representative

Washington Ag Today July 13, 2010 The Washington Cattlemen’s Association is holding a meeting with National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Field Representative Dan McCarty tomorrow, Wednesday, in Prosser. During a cell phone interview WCA executive vice president Jack Field talked about the purpose of the meeting.

Field: “Wanted to have a meeting there in Prosser to give both NCBA members and non-members an opportunity to come to a meeting and learn about what NCBA has been doing on behalf of cattle producers around the country and also to have a good opportunity for question and answer and hopefully have an opportunity for folks who want to become NCBA members become members.”

NCBA has suspended plans to proceed on governance structure changes but Field says he told McCarty to be prepared for questions about the subject. Field says NCBA is working on several issues in Washington D.C. of interest to Washington cattle producers. Among them the Clean Water Restoration Act, and the estate tax.

The meeting will Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Barn Restaurant in Prosser at 490 Wine County Road. If you plan on attending you are asked to RSVP the WCA at 509-925-9871 or email
