Cattlemen's College a week from today
Washington Ag Today November 4, 2009 The Washington Cattlemen’s Association and the Washington CattleWomen’s Association’s 84th Annual Convention and Trade Show is next week at the Pasco Red Lion in Pasco. The event starts on Wednesday, November 11th, with the Pfizer Cattlemen’s College. WCA executive vice president Jack Field says the theme for this year’s college is Beef Production Technology “Protecting you interest with Safe Beef.” Field: “We will have Dr. Tom Fields from the National Cattlemen‘s Beef Association talking about the Chaotic Social Change and its impact on beef production technology. He will be sharing some information about the latest consumer research that relates to the beef industry and the resulting pubic policy pressures we have seen. He will talk about a new study that is just being unfolded about the carbon footprint of the beef industry in the United States and talk about a life cycle assessment of cattle production on the environment.” There will also be sessions on immunology and vaccinology from a Pfizer veterinarian and Washington State Veterinarian Doctor Leonard Eldridge. Doctor Gordon Brumbaugh, Specialty Veterinarian for Pfizer Animal Health will discuss responsible use of technology and public policy/regulatory issues. The day will wrap up with a Q & A for all the speakers. Field: “I am excited about that. I think we are going to have an opportunity to really discuss a lot of interesting topics that producers may not fully consider or think about on a daily basis.” Tomorrow, more from Field on the convention agenda.
