Idaho's Slickspot Peppergrass Threatened Species

With the Agribusiness Update, I'm Susan Allen., Slickspot peppergrass a plant that lives on about 60,000 acres of sagebrush-steppe habitat in southwestern Idaho, will once again be considered a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. Gov. Butch Otter, R-Id., challenged that decision in federal court, and in 2012, a judge threw out the listing after finding that FWS had not properly defined the phrase "foreseeable future" with respect to the threats faced by the plant. Last week Representatives from Australia, Singapore, and other countries in the Far East and Pacific Rim were in Vietnam negotiating a trade agreement that could potentially take the place of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Some of the member countries included in TPP discussions are pushing ahead with the alternative agreement as the fate of the TPP in America isn't certain. And the California Wine grape crop should bring higher prices prices due to a lighter and earlier crop that according to Western Farm Press will help restore balance to the states wine industry that has an excess supply of some varietals.
