Base Map Hunting App

This is sportsmen spotlight with Matt and Tom. If you want to plan your hunts out in more detail, why not check out Base Maps. The newest App on hunting the Northwest, I was able to get a hold of my good friend Justin Gibbons the other day to find out how it works.

Justin "It is unbelievable, basically it's a hunt finder and research tool. So you start out with an idea, say you want to hunt elk over the counter in a state in the west. You select rifle, bow, etc. and it actually begins to narrow down the results and shows you where you can do that. And then, it has all the information. It shows you harvest statistics, it shows you where the highest success rates are, you can even see where elk migrations patterns. You can do all of your research and buy your tags in the same place. I've found some spots in Idaho that are over the counter tags, with 35% success rate on bull, for elk. Eventually it will be the whole US, but right now it is just the northwestern states. It has land ownership as well, kind of the best of both worlds. It has all of the hunt research and navigation tools, and you can do all of your scouting and everything and put your way points in for your GPS. And with all of the land owner data which allows you to see who owns what and what's public and what's private. It really is all around a pretty amazing hunting tool."
