Those closest to Lou Gasperin claim that this fishing legend was born, rod-in-hand. Licensed fishing guide, Captain and pro tour veteran, Lou's fishing career started early. We lived on the water and ever since I was a kid, started fishing when I was in the fourth grade. Rode my bike to fishing, catching mullets, shooting mullets with a bow, I used to make my own cast nets, I've got pictures from when I was about six years old holding fish up. Snook fishing, tarpon fishing, grouper fishing. I know I had my first boat when I was 14 years of age. I have owned 27 boats. I fished the Arthur Smith tournaments on the east coast of Florida. The king fish, wahoo and dolphin tournaments. Fish the old salt tournament which we won a couple of times. We used to always finish in the top three. Those were tournaments that we would run 40-120 miles offshore with deep drops for grouper. In 1977 I won the Homosassa Holidays Tournament out of Homosassa Florida which was a redfish, trout and grouper tournament. For about 15 years, I guided people up in the mountains for the rainbows, the brook and brown trout on fly
