According to the news source Reuters, the killing of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe by American dentist and trophy hunter Walter Palmer is being investigated by the US Fish and Wildlife Service to see if it was part of a conspiracy to violate US laws against illegal wildlife trading. Yes, by now, all of us outdoorsmen are painfully aware of the black eye that this so-called hunter has put on the past time that so many of us love so much. There has been an international outcry that sadly isn't only focused on Palmer, but indeed is also including the sport of hunting in general. I thought I would call a Fish and Game official who I have chatted with extensively over the years, for his perspective on this horrible event. Listen to hunting advocate Greg Losinski: "In your mind, this is not a typical outdoorsman, is it? Not at all and I would hate to have this incident reflect on all sportsmen. Most folks that are out there are trying to put meat in their freezer, enjoy their family and friends. This trophy hunting scenario that has come to light

recently is at the extreme end of the whole hunting spectrum and may not even be considered as hunting because of the way the animal was lured in from a preserve."

And you certainly can't convince me that Palmer had no idea what was going on and that it was all his guides' fault.
