This is your Northwest report for Thursday, October 27th, I'm David Sparks and while most of the nation will experience dry, even warmer weather in some locales, USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey noticed two regions where considerable precipitation may be coming: "the Western United States and areas stretching from the Midwest into the Northeast." Rippey says a storm barrage similar to activity earlier this month is moving through the northern Pacific coast states. However, "as we move a little bit later into this week we will see our best push southward yet of precipitation and that could even mean some early season showers for drought stricken Southern California." It may not be a drought buster but this system could tamp down Southern California's wildfire threat.

Frustration with the direction of the country, the farm economy and the regulatory environment. Those are three key messages delivered by the 750 farmers who took time out of their busy harvest-time schedules to respond to the most recent Agri-Pulse Farm and Ranch Poll. With mounting concerns about the farm - and the U.S. - economy, this new nationwide poll indicates how farmers and ranchers will vote in the 2016 presidential election. Some 55 percent of those surveyed say they'll support Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump while 18 percent are throwing their support behind Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
