Importance of TPA & New Lone Wolf

Importance of TPA & New Lone Wolf. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.

TPA has been the hot topic on Capitol Hill as of late and a lot of northwest producers have been hopefully that Congress would move forward on it. Kent Bacus, NCBA Associate Director of Legislative Affairs says TPA has been approved for consideration on the floor.

BACUS: This is an important step because we really need TPA to be renewed in order for our negotiators to close the final deals on TPP and to have really good trade standards put into place for the Trans-Atlantic Partnership with Europe. It's out hope that we would see some kind of agreement between the U.S. and Japan hopefully in May or early June. We really need that in order for the rest of the TPP negotiations to move forward.

U.S. Fish & Wildlife officials in Northeast Oregon have reported the sighting of a new, lone wolf in Central Oregon. John Stephenson is the Fish and Wildlife wolf program coordinator and says the wolf broke off of the Imnaha Pack in the past few weeks. The young male wolf, OR-25 has already been collared and according to officials is about the right age at 2 years to begin wandering. OR-25 had been reported in Washington before returning to Oregon and going into the Mount Hood National Forest.

That's today's Northwest Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network of the West.
