Residents of Klamath and Lake counties in Oregon now have the opportunity of taking part in a program that hopefully will improve air quality in the area. Gov. Kate Brown announced a $1.5 million program to replace old wood stoves and fireplaces. Residents who take apart will be able to get heating devices that don't burn wood, such as ductless heat pumps. In addition the money will also pay for weatherizing of homes, which can reduce wood-stove pollution by improving insulation. The program will begin in May.

Congress yesterday, passed H.R. 1105, the Death Tax Repeal Act of 2015. Washington Congressman Dan Newhouse voted in favor of the repeal but says that the elation may be short lived.

NEWHOUSE: I've seen firsthand the devastation that families go through having to liquidate part of their business or their farm or even lose the farm in order to pay the tax bill. A lot of people maybe land rich but cash poor so I was happy to vote for that. We did get an alert from the administration that more than likely his staff would recommend a veto. I just think that the policy itself is flawed, is wrong and regardless of what the next step in the process may or may not be we should move forward and pass legislation that we think is right.
