Small Gains in the Wheat Markets Monday

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for April 21, 2015.
Corn was down slightly and wheat markets ended Monday with small gains. From the floor of the CME Group, Scott Shellady shares his observations of Monday’s markets.
Shellady: “Grain market acting a bit peculiar today. Let’s look at the three biggest things that are going to effective us as of late are going to be: weather, number one; the dollar number two; and then what might happen in Europe as the capital flow is going. We’ve got a market where corn is done oneish — it’s not taking it on the chin too bad — even though we’ve had a stronger dollar all day. The wheat market was up three to four cents or even five cents depending on where your option is. We’ve seen some strength in wheat and beans and that is probably going to be productive for the mart going forward.”
Chicago July Wheat ended Monday up 9 cents at 4-98 and 1/4. July corn ended the day down 2 cents at 3-86 and 3/4.
Portland prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were steady to up 4 and 1/2 cents at mostly 6-18 and 3/4. White club wheat of ordinary protein prices were steady to up 4 and 1/4 cents at mostly 7-88 and 3/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up 3 and 1/4 cents at mostly 6-20 and 1/2. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up 6 and 1/4 cents at mostly 7-84.
June live cattle were down $3.12 and half on Monday at 145.87 and half. May Feeder cattle were down $3.37 and half at 205.15. May class III milk was up 29 cents at 16-28.
