Wheat Closes Higher on Friday

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for April 13, 2015.
Wheat closed higher with concerns over draught conditions in the Western Plains. USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders gives the weekly regional cattle update.
Sanders: “Northwest Direct Cattle Report, we had 3,500 head trade in the country this week. Compared to last Friday, feeder cattle were mixed steers were $4 to $5 higher; heifers weak in a light test. Trade was slow this week as most Northwest feedlot buyers have gone to California. Demand remains good. Washington state snow pack as of April 1st was 22 percent of normal. Feeder steers medium-large frame #1s and #2s current FOB price 900 pounds at $210 in Idaho.”
Chicago July Wheat ended Friday up 6 and 1/2 cents at 5-24. July corn ended the day down 1 cent at 3-84 and 3/4.
Portland prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were steady to up 7 and 3/4 cents at mostly 6-41 and 1/2. White club wheat of ordinary protein prices were mixed down 2 and 1/2 to up 7 and 3/4 cents at mostly 8-57 and 1/2. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up 7 and 1/4 cents at mostly 6-71 and 3/4. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up 7 cents at mostly 8-64.
June live cattle were down $2.77 and half on Friday at 148-80. May Feeder cattle were down $3.97 and half at 209-72 and half. May class III milk was down 20 cents at 15-77.
