Wheat Ends Friday Stronger on the Day
I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for March 30, 2015.Soybeans and corn closed lower, while wheat found support after Thursday’s sell-off. USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders gives an update on the region’s cattle market.
Sanders: “Direct cattle for this week in the Northwest, we had 4,000 head trade. Compared to last Friday’s feeder cattle were $1 to $6 higher. Trade was slow to moderate with good demand. Feeder steers of medium to large frame 1s and 2s current FOB price 850 to 900 pounds $190 to $193 in Washington and Oregon. Feeder heifers medium to large frames 1s and 2s 800 pounds $190 to $191 in Washington and Oregon. Replacement heifers on a per head basis medium to large frames 1s and 2s current FOB price 700 pounds at $1800 per head.”
Chicago May Wheat ended Friday up 8 and 1/2 cents at 5-07 and 3/4. May corn ended the day down a 1/4 of a cent at 3-91.
Portland prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were steady to up 8 and 1/2 cents at mostly 6-31 and 1/2. White club wheat of ordinary protein prices were steady to up 8 and 1/2 cents at mostly 8-71 and 1/2. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up a dime at mostly 6-64. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up 11 and 3/4 cents at mostly 8-88.
June live cattle were up 97 and half cents on Friday at 152-97 and half. May Feeder cattle were up $2.35 at 218-12 and half. May class III milk was up 15 cents at 15-45.
