Choppy Down Monday for Wheat

Choppy Down Monday for Wheat

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for July 29, 2014.

Monday was a choppy day in the grain market. From the floor of the CME Group, Virginia McCathey shares her observations of Monday’s markets.
McCathey: “Today in the grain market we had a choppy market really across the board. Starting with wheat, we basically languished from two lower to two higher, we closed just a little bit lower. Not really much happening right now. We are looking at good weather. We had some rains in the mid-west and that is basically helping the wheat market and the projection that the weather is going to be decent for August is really putting more pressure on the market.”
Chicago September Wheat ended Monday down 3 and 1/4 cents at 5-34 and 3/4. September corn ended the day up 4 and 3/4 cents at 3-67 and 3/4.
Portland prices for soft white wheat were down 3 and 1/4 to 5 and 1/4 cents at mostly 6-76 and 3/4. White club wheat prices were down 3 and 1/4 cents at mostly 7-44 and 3/4.
