Grains Down Across the Board

Grains Down Across the Board

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for April 22, 2014.

Monday was a negative day in the grains markets. From the floor of the CME Group, Greg Wagner shares his observations of Monday’s markets.

Wagner: “The grain markets here on Monday at the CME started on a very negative note. Soybeans getting hit, corn getting hit and wheat market particularly getting …. crunched as far as lower valuations. Wheat is pressured with this idea of rain coming in — I don’t know it could be snow — as far as some of those regions, particularly those parched regions of the southwest. The wheat market is going to have a struggle here.”

Chicago May Wheat ended Monday down 23 cents at 6-68 and 1/4. May corn ended the day down 6 and 1/4 cents at 4-88 and 1/2.

Portland prices for soft white wheat were down 23 cents at mostly 7-49 and 1/2. White club wheat prices were down 20 to 23 cents at mostly 8-02 and 1/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were down 24 to 29 cents at mostly 8-45. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were down 18 and 1/4 cents at mostly 8-60 and 1/2.

June live cattle were up 17 and half cents on Monday at 134-55. May Feeder cattle were up a nickel at 178-10. May class III milk was down 30 cents at 21-84.
