Colorado Farm Manager

I could live in Boston, buy a Colorado ranch and make it work. I was talking with farmer Craig Lindquist the other day when he told me about his wife. “My wife Robin manages farms. She manages what she refers to as farm leases. Imagine a property manager that manages apartments or manages commercial buildings. She is a property manager that specializes in agriculture. She negotiates leases, she manages those leases, overseas construction, maybe installation of a new center pivot or a mainline, repairs that may need to be done with shops, she contracts with people it do that kind of thing. Let's say I ran into money and bought a farm but I was living in Montréal. I needed somebody to manage the whole operation. What I call your wife? Yep. That is the type of business that she is in. So she would hire employees, she would… She would hire contractors to do the necessary work. That is typically what a residential property manager would do. A residential property manager often will hire repair and maintenance people but with regard to production agriculture, a property manager in agriculture typically manages the lease and negotiates that lease on behalf of the landowner and then interacts with the farmer that is operating that farm.”
