Farmland Premieres

Farmland Premiers. I'm Greg Martin with today's Line On Agriculture.

It has been talked about for the last several months and now it is about here. I'm talking about the new documentary film, Farmland, directed by Oscar winning director James Moll. The film premiered last Thursday at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance has worked with James Moll on this film.

KROTZ: That's a real focus of ours as we go through the summer and into the fall, to make sure that Farmland is in venues where some other films that maybe don't share quite as practical and realistic look of agriculture have been for several years.

That's USFRA's CEO Randy Krotz says the film also touches the hot topics in agriculture that garner different opinions from a variety of people.

KROTZ: We're not going to shape that opinion in an 80 minute film, but you can begin to get people to ask more questions. And that's what we really hope for, is that as people walk away from this film, that they really want to learn more about food production.

So far the feedback on the film has been very positive and it will be released into more that 100 theaters nationwide on May 1st. Krotz says USFRA is happy to be part of this project.

KROTZ: The subjects in the film have been absolutely wonderful. They're actually covering a lot of venues, so we're thrilled with what their participation has been and we're just excited to have a tool like this that perhaps opens up the consumers' hearts and minds about food production.

That's today's Line On Agriculture. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
