Ag retailers no longer have to worry about the time-consuming, error-ridden manual process of using spreadsheets to track their forward-based fertilizer and seed bookings with sales. DTN Register now lets them easily place fertilizer and seed orders and track inventory in real time for better margin management. DTN Register gives ag retailers the ability to align sales demand with supply and monitor the margins of these inputs for a more efficient sales order management process.

“With DTN Register, ag retailers can spend their time managing margins not spreadsheets,” said Chris Carl, DTN director, agribusiness, “And it gives sales managers and reps more time to focus on what they do best … service their farmer-customers.”

DTN Register is a mobile app that allows ag retailers to use an iPad to take orders and monitor forward-based fertilizer and seed bookings. It eliminates the manual, labor-intensive process of tracking forward-bought inventory with orders, making it especially helpful for retailers with multiple locations.

“This new tool offers a quick-and-easy, automated method for ag retailers to place accurate orders without the unnecessary and time-consuming steps often associated with their current laborious, manual processes (or solutions),” said Carl. “Sales teams can use the mobile app in a field or at multiple retail locations and know instantly the amount of sales inventory available when placing a customer’s order.”

According to Carl, sales reps can use DTN Register to add multiple products to a single order form in just a few steps and then have the farmer confirm and sign the order on the spot. Plus, it enables fertilizer or seed managers to automate and apply supplier programs (e.g., volume or LCO programs).

Ag retail managers can use DTN Register to view overall margins by input, view their position on unsold inventory and monitor sales rep activity. Carl indicated ag retailers can configure order forms for selling solutions to farmers based on retailer go-to-market strategies. In addition, DTN Register also integrates seamlessly with ag retailers’ accounting systems to push orders into them.
