Southwest Cheese & Glanbia, the world’s largest producer of American-style cheddar cheese, swept the boards in bringing home a record-breaking eighteen awards at the 2016 World Championship Cheese Contests recently held in Wisconsin. Research and Development Manager for Glanbia, Ram Kumar: “The record breaking haul included six gold, eight silver and four bronze medals.

 

Southwest Cheese in New Mexico won gold medals for Fresh Asiago, Pepper Jack, Monterey Pepper High Heat, Pepper Jack Mild Heat, Pepper Jack High Heat; silver medals for, Cheddar Mild, Fresh Asiago, Pepper Jack Medium Heat, Pepper Jack High Heat, Cranberry Mango Monterey Jack; and bronze medals for Fresh Asiago, Pepper Jack Medium Heat, and Pepper Jack High Heat.

 

In addition, Glanbia won a gold medal in Monterey Jack & Walnuts, silver medals in Ghost Pepper Jack, Reduced Fat Monterey Jack, and Reduced Sodium Cheddar. They earned bronze medals in Fresh Asiago, Pepper Jack and Mild Cheddar. In total we retained the most medals from any country entered in the world contest.

We are proud of sweeping the Fresh Asiago category and excelling in the pepper cheese category.” said Wilf Costello, Chief Commercial Officer- Glanbia. “I’m particularly proud that the efforts of our employees, and the dairy farms that supply us with superior quality milk, are recognized on a global stage” Costello added.

 

The medals will be displayed at Glanbia’s office in Twin Falls and in Clovis, New Mexico. There is even better news for cheese lovers. The Glanbia Cheese Marketplace in downtown Twin Falls, which opened in October 2015, lets locals find out first hand just how good world beating Glanbia cheese is. Glanbia is one of the fastest growing and most successful dairy companies in the United States and is the largest American-style cheddar cheese manufacturer in the U.S. Between Glanbia and its joint venture Southwest Cheese, the company processes approximately 23 million pounds of milk everyday into cheese and whey products.
