The Idaho cattle Association sends out a newsletter and I read this. “Higher, higher, unbelievably higher.   What are these prices going to mean for the fall cash market?  Will there be any cattle left to buy, or any cash left to spend?  I don’t know, but what I do know is that cattle is king right now in the commodities.  I wish you all the best of luck as you continue to market your fall calves and procure your feeders.  Make no mistake, it's a seller's market.”  Well it turns out that the national agricultural statistics service is also interested in cattle.The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s NASS will fully reinstate its cattle program this month by surveying nearly 10,000 cattle operations across the U.S. to provide an up-to-date measure of U.S. cattle inventories. NASS National Operations Division Director Joe Prusacki says it was suspended in March 2013 due to sequestration budget reductions - but the cattle program will return to a semiannual program this year with July and January surveys and cattle reports.
