Fruit Loop

Fruit Loop

Fruit Loop. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

It’s fruit season here in the Pacific Northwest and farmers markets are soon to be jammed with apples, peaches, nectarines and more. A number of groups are also taking advantage of that and making northwest fruit a highlight, such as the Hood River County Fruit Loop. Lacy Gray has more.

GRAY: Just south of the Columbia River across the border in Oregon lies Hood River and each year at this time the residents take advantage of the many fruit, produce and floral offering to highlight the region for tourists and locals alike. A number of local farms have banded together to create the Fruit Loop which is a self-guided tour of the the various fruit stands, wineries, bakeries and more. The 35-mile long loop winds through the Hood River Valley and offers folks a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, flowers, fresh fruit pies, jams, syrups, fruit smoothies, local artisan gifts, from all around the county. And due to the fact this is a large pear growing region, the Loop is holding their Hood River Fruit Loop Pear Celebration on September 20-21. It’s a perfect weekend getaway.

Thanks Lacy. If you’d like more information on the Hood River County Fruit Loop you can log on to their website at hoodriverfuitloop.com.
