Worker Seminars

Worker Seminars. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

On Friday we talked with Washington Farm Labor Association's Dan Fazio about their upcoming Hot Topics seminar on pregnancy disability and how it can affect you as an employer.

FAZIO: So this is the second of our July Hot Topics webinar series. We call it Hot Topics because, well, the topics are hot like this one. The first one this past week was about the marijuana laws and what to do as an employer now that marijuana is legal and being sold in the state of Washington and the impact on the workplace and then we're going to talk about how you handle these verification of employment requests from agencies, from individuals etc.

Washington Farm Labor Association is the premier human resource service provider for farm and seasonal employers in the Pacific Northwest.

FAZIO: We've always thought that the best way to handle it if a worker is pregnant is to engage in a conversation between the worker and the employer so that the worker can tell the boss what she want to do and then the boss can say this is what we can do as an employer so kind of a back and forth a little bit. We're wondering if these new guidelines, these new regulations if you will, are going to inhibit some of that back and forth that is crucial in a good employer/employee relationship

WAFLA has on-going training with new topics every month including their Supervisor U leadership training set for August 8th in five locations around the northwest.

That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
