AgChat Foundation Acquires Ask the Farmers

A recent social media acquisition should be prove to be a positive for promoting agriculture with the public. The AgChat Foundation has reached an agreement with the creators of Ask The Farmers to acquire its websites, trademarks and platforms.

AgChat empowers farmers and ranchers with the necessary tools to share their stories with those disconnected from agriculture. The Ask The Farmers project was founded in 2014 and a small group of passionate AgVocates set out to help answer consumers' questions. AgChat Foundation Vice President Marie Bowers-Stagg shares more details

Bowers-Stagg: "Right now AgChat is focused on teaching farmers and ranchers how to tell their story. Consumers aren't necessarily our audience, however with Ask the Farmers that gives us a branch for AgChat for attendees of our conferences, for people who want to share their story but don't quite have a platform yet — or know if they even want to go on a platform — they have an outlet now. Then we are using the tools that we are teaching people at our conferences and they can go immediately to a platform or somewhere to share and talk to consumers and answer questions. That was the biggest thing that Ask a Farmers did - -they answered questions."

If you don't know much about either of these entities —- both are very active in helping tell ag's story to the public.

For consumers the Ask the Farmer website and social media platforms will remain the same — farmers and ranchers answering consumers' questions.
