USPB Outlines Next Steps in Getting Potato Friendly Salad Bars Into Schools

At the recent United States Potato Board Annual Meeting the launch the Potato Friendly Salad Bar Initiative was approved for the fiscal year 2016. USPB Marketing Programs Director Kim Breshears shares one of the next steps in the process is selecting a Marketing agency to assist in the undertaking.
Breshears: “The selection of the agency is going to help us develop all of the marketing materials to support the program. Because the first step is to get the salad bar in the schools. The second step of the program — which is probably as important if not more important — is making sure that we are communicating with the school districts very effectively on the importance of including potatoes in their school lunch programs. And then making sure that we are always supplying them with new and fresh ideas to include potatoes that meet all the school lunch requirements that are out there. So that is what our agency partner is going to help us do in addition to helping us fostering a lot of relationships with school nutritionists and school lunch providers.”
What do producers and other industry members need to be considering?
Breshears: “If a grower or anyone in the potato industry wants to participate in the Salad Bar initiative, the best place to get the information is to go to uspotatoes.com.”
