Amendment 71 is Raising the Bar

Colorado’s Amendment 71 if passed in November will make it more difficult to amend the state constitution as currently the same initiative process to amend the state law also can amend the state constitution. Colorado Farm Bureau Associate Director of Communications John Dooley says
Dooley: “Colorado has been used as a playground for the last 10 or so years from outside interests that end up impacting rural Colorado. This ballot initiative is a good intuitive that will raise the standard for signature gatherers and just a standard to amend our constitution. It is time for outside interests to stop using Colorado.”
I asked whether he had seen much opposition to the amendment. Dooley says
Dooley: “From monitoring the commercials and the public ad space and that nature, I haven’t seen anything anti-71 — commercials or anything like that. I haven’t’ seen any advertising on your computer or online or anywhere. I really can’t answer that so maybe that means that everyone is for it.”
The Farm Bureau has been active in promoting the passage of Amendment 71 as Dooley explains
Dooley: “The polls are showing favorite for it. We are still putting up signs across Colorado where ever we can get land owners to put up signs. The response has been really good.”
