Applicants Needed for New Farm Stewardship Award

Colorado Corn is looking for corn growers who are implementing conservation practices to apply for a new stewardship award. Communications Director Eric Brown says that the winner of this new Farm Stewardship Award will then be forwarded as the state's nomination for the National Corn Growers Association's Good Stewardship Award. Brown says

Brown: "There are some many farmers out there that are doing incredible things when it comes to conservation tillage, soil health, water quality a lot of things out there that farmers are already doing. We thought this would be a great way to tell their story of what the good things that they are doing because while we have a good idea of what is going out there — there is definitely some detail out there that we don't know about. We want to learn as much as we can about what farmers are doing out there knowing that there is a lot of good that is going on. So we can communicate that to the public. Of course, whoever the winner is that is going to be a great platform for the winner to talk about all the great things they are doing on their farm. Within the farm community eager to see what is going on but I think the general public — in the communication efforts talking about who our winner is. They will be pleasantly surprised and appreciative — not only of this winner — but what a lot of farmers in Colorado are doing to take care of our natural resources in addition to providing feed, fuel and fiber."

Applicants must be Colorado Corn Growers Association members in good standing, implement conservation-tillage methods, and demonstrate stewardship practices related to soil, water or air.

Applications are due Nov. 18. For more information, or to find an application, go to www.coloradocorn.com.
