Agritourism Workshop Happening in Palisades on July 23rd

As a farmer or rancher, have you ever considered participating in agritourism? On July 23rd there will be a 2 and half hour workshop entitled Bringing People to Your Property at the Grand River Vineyards. The workshop’s objective is to offer farmers and ranchers some tips and advice on workshop planning and event management. Colorado AgriTourism Association Program Manager Denise Taylor says one of the workshop goals is for participants to learn from those who are currently hosting workshops and events for the public.
Taylor: “Our speakers will include Naomi Smith who is the owner of the Grand River Vineyards. She does lots of big events, tours, and wine tasting — so she does a little bit of everything. Also Gina Marcell who is the owner of the Mountain Goat Lodge in Salida. She hosts people at her bed and breakfast and also gives classes on cheese making, goat herding, chicken raising and does some educational tours as well.”
The event will be from 10 a.m until 12:30 and the $25 registration includes lunch. Taylor continues with who should attend.
Taylor: “So we would like to invite people who are considering hosting visitors — whether it be a make it take it class if there is a product or something you produce on your land that people could take with them. Anyone that has agricultural products that they would like to share with the public. We think they would benefit from attending this class and getting the basics on how to run a successful event.”
