South Platte River Basin Ag Producers Workshop

The Colorado Ag Water Alliance is sponsoring a regional workshop on July 13th they will be holding the South Platte Basin Water Workshop at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in Brush from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

What does the emphasis on alternative transfer methods or ATMs really mean to the state's agriculture? What is the motivation for farmers and ranchers to participate in leasing or to improve irrigation efficiency. What are the barrier's The purpose of this workshop is to share information and foster dialogue with ag producers.

CSU's Colorado Water Institute Policy and Collaboration Specialist Mary Lou Smith shares more details about what participating ag producers can expect if they attend.

Smith: "What the Colorado Ag Water Alliance is having these workshops to give ag a chance to hear an update on these storage projects; an update on what these ATMs businesses all about and to hear their point of view about the Colorado Plan's words that it has to say about Colorado's ag water."

Brief, highly focused presentations and panel dialogue will cover the basics, followed by opportunity for Ag producers to ask questions and engage in dialogue about what they see as opportunities and barriers—and how those barriers and opportunities might best be addressed.
