Ag Day at the Capitol on March 16th

Mark your calendar as the annual event and celebration of Colorado’s ag producers and agribusinesses has been set for Wednesday, March 16 at the Capitol Building in Denver. The 40 agricultural organizations that make up the Colorado Ag Council will once again host Ag Day at the Capitol, starting at 10:45 a.m. and featuring the teaming up of local chefs, lawmakers and others in a cook-off competition of Colorado-grown foods. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. The Colorado Egg Producers’ David Collie shares more about the day’s events.
Collie:”On March 16th, we are celebrating Colorado Ag Day and it is an event where we pair up local chefs with Colorado farmers and ranchers and use their products to showcase the beautiful Colorado farmers and ranchers products in the state. We also pair up legislators who are able to join the chef teams and actually have a fun day of cooking competition and we basically feed the people in the capitol and have a lot of good fun.”
He continues
Collie: “It is a great way to showcase Colorado products but it is also important to note that Colorado farmers and ranchers give over $15 million a year towards different food banks in Colorado. So we also celebrate with Food Bank of the Rockies who typically accept a check at the event. The different opportunities that farmers and ranchers provide the state of Colorado.”
