Colorado Foundation for Agriculture Making a Difference in Ag Literacy

The Colorado Foundation for Agriculture has been promoting ag literacy in the state since 1991. Here is a quick glance of several of their activities this year: their Colorado Literacy brought farmers into 266 classrooms across the state to read a book about agriculture. Then in the summer there were two Food, Fiber and More Summer Ag Institute for Teachers in the San Luis Valley and Fort Collins. In the fall, they began a new Colorado Reader series.

This time of year many of us are looking to donate to organizations that are really making a difference, I'd like to remind folks about the good work being done by the Foundation. Director Bette Blinde says

Blinde: "A lot of people think we are funded by the Colorado Department of Agriculture, but that isn't true. All the funding that we get comes from private donations. Individuals or businesses sponsoring a classroom so they can receive the Colorado Readers series or sponsoring one of the products that we promote at schools like our poster series. We are now starting to do interactive online lessons. All that takes time and programming and money to help make that happen. So when the end of the year rolls around, we appreciate it when people can make a donation to the Colorado Foundation for Agriculture. We are on the Colorado Gives website so you can give there or they can go to our website which is growingyourfuture.com —- either way works for us and we appreciate any contributions to help provide ag literacy materials to schools, and teachers and students."
