White: “We are really excited Wednesday, September 30th is Colorado Proud School Meal Day. So we really encourage Colorado schools to incorporate local ingredients in their menus We have a lot of schools who will have a chef or a farmer speakers or agricultural experts educating students about the state’s agriculture. Colorado Proud School Meal Day is a annual event. We’ve had it for at least a decade or so. It is a way for us to connect schools with local agriculture.”
It’s estimated that more than 600 schools will be sourcing locally grown, raised or processed foods and treating students to a meal that represents the bounty of products that Colorado offers. White continues by encouraging you to check with your local school to see what activities are happening around the Wednesday event.
White: “We encourage communities to talk to their school and see how they can get involved in Colorado Proud School Meal Day and what activities they’ve got going on at their local schools.”
