WSU President outlines administrative reorganization

Washington Ag Today August 19, 2010 Washington State University President Elson Floyd this week laid out an administrative reorganization plan aimed at immediately saving up to 900-thousand dollars as the university tries to work its way through another 13.5 million dollars in reduced state support. Floyd’s plan includes the elimination of three vice presidential positions.

Floyd: “I am making the best decisions I possibly can in an incredibly difficult environment. And I am also trying to make sure that I nurture and sustain what we know as Washington State University and to continue to advance the quality and excellence that all of you expect at our institution.”

Part of the plan includes eliminating and reorganizing the director of government relations position. The position of associate vice president for external affairs and chief legislative officer is being created to oversee both federal and state governmental and legislative affairs as a combined unit. WSU has named Colleen Kerr to that position. She served the State Senate Democratic Caucus and State Senator Lisa Brown of Spokane.
