The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Utah’s largest farming organization is placing books on agriculture in Utah schools to correct what its chief executive says are "lies and distortions" that vilify America's conventional farming practices. Utah Farm Bureau CEO Randy Parker said his organization is purchasing books to correct "eco-propaganda" messages aimed at children that assert agriculture is ravaging the environment. Parker sent out a poignant newsletter to his 27,000 members:

Here’s some of the content in the newsletter: Visit the Utah Agriculture in the Classroom website and you will find a selection of educational opportunities for school age children designed to improve literacy and student awareness of production agriculture and an appreciation for our food and fiber system.

Contrast this balanced and rewarding look at America’s farmers and ranchers with the eco-propaganda that is portrayed in contemporary children’s books, movie themes, on-line messages and fabricated “news” like a September cover story in TIME magazine slamming the U.S. farmer and the food they provide.

Our children are flooded with a variety of “go-green” messages.  Children are being traumatized for not recycling an empty yogurt container or forgetting to turn off the lights.

America’s food production miracle is being vilified as uncaring factory farms.   This is exactly why we’re promoting Agtavism.
