A new University of Idaho Extension Web site helps users gain the knowledge they need to make better money-management decisions in these challenging times. The Web site offers research-based instruction on financial basics, on credit and debt, and on ways to live well while spending less. University of Idaho Extension family economics specialists and educators—outline ways to use credit wisely, trim debt, understand credit scores and reports, and rebuild damaged credit histories. Web site visitors learn how to reduce the costs of energy, housing, travel, meals and other budget items and how to set financial goals, track spending, develop savings programs and avoid identity theft.

Marilyn Bischoff, University of Idaho Extension family economics specialist and Web site project leader says this is particularly important for ag producers:”Most agricultural producers are part of a family. This information is useful for any household in managing household finances. A few of the topics such as goal setting or tracking expenses, obviously those are important concepts for producers or any business person. No farm can survive without being a business person.”
