Shooting  carp with a bow actually provides a service for fish and game. I’m going to introduce you to someone who has some interesting perspectives on this topic. Several weeks ago we talked with our regular correspondent Randy King who is a top notch outdoorsman between hunting and fishing but also an executive chef who knows how to prepare anything he has harvested. He has hunted for carp in the past and argues that he is doing a service. “What I do buy onto is that it is a heck of a lot of fun. Being an invasive species, they were actually brought over to the West as a possible food source. People didn’t realize that we didn’t like the taste of Carp compared to our native species. If you can eat trout and salmon you’re certainly not going to want to eat a carp. So now they are an invasive species that are damaging the habitats that they live in. So if people can take them out and shoot them with their bows more power to them, d it’s a great time to do it. They don’t taste terrible if you do them right, but as far as actually doing it as practice, yes you are pulling your bow back and shooting it but the actual act is a little bit different of a skill set for sure.” That skill set that Randy is referring to is go hunting for carp versus Bow hunting for deer.
