Hey parents out there. Welcome to Sportsmens’ Spotlight. I’m David Sparks with a hypothetical. How do you get your kids interested in the outdoors? Some times it’s magic and sometimes it’s just there. I’ll be right back to discuss.

I’ve got two girls and they’re both pretty good kids but what a time I had getting them to do things with me that I thought we all could enjoy. Well here’s the flip side. Rachel Bare is a  fun-loving, full-of-life person who competes extremely well in everything she endeavors to take on, including hunting and fishing. Rachel always liked fishing on the John Day river in Oregon  with her dad and then as she got older she wanted to hunt.  Her first buck was a 4x5.  Rachel was big time athlete in small town lettered in three sports.. then went on to a local community college, was  pitcher of the year  and a 2006 MVP then got full ride to NNU.  Rachel is the oldest sibling she has two younger brothers. All of that said, I called up her Dad, knowing what a job it can be to keep kids these days on the straight and narrow, and asked him how he got her involved in the outdoors. You’ll find  pretty straightforward answer.
