The women that settled the west were strong and versatile, they still are, a reason I view  the treatment of Sarah Palin by the elites and  mainstream media as a direct attack on my lifestyle. I’m Susan Allen this is OpenRange . Enough of the Sarah Palin hunting jokes, and comments by  arrogant columnists like  Maureen Dowd who said she shared common ground with Palin because Sarah grew up shooting moose while she watched Bullwinkle on TV. My  daughters-in law and I all  hunt, sometimes  even together ? So  she despise us as well? Why? I find  Palin putdown derogatory towards women  who epitomizes the western lifestyle.  Be it agriculture, the fishing industry, ranching, and rodeo, we shouldn’t allow our precious   heritage and history to be trashed.   Hew Hewitt of the National Review analyzed hatred  of Palin by suggesting it is because of the contrast between her lifestyle and critics. “She is the embodiment of the anti-choice, the opposite of every choice that lefty elites have ever made. Having children, having a child with Downs, staying   married to one man the whole time, choosing rural over urban ,and living a generally conservative lifestyle working with her hands. Sarah? He’s describing  my Aunt Peg who has spent her life on a remote ranch. Hewitt concludes   by saying that “Everything Palin is  is the antithesis of everything the liberal urban elites are  so it’s not just enough to say, “I disagree with you, she has to be repudiated and crushed.”  No she doesn’t,  It’s time to stop the defiling  and profiling .
