Farm and Ranch March 10, 2010 The National Association of Wheat Growers elected officers at last week’s Commodity Classic held in Anaheim, California. That means Karl Scronce of Klamath Falls, Oregon is now the immediate past president of NAWG. Looking back over the past year Scronce says one of the challenges the organization faced was selecting a new CEO.

Scronce: “We lost Daren Coppock and was also from Oregon. Sad to see him go but I think we got somebody very good in Dana Peterson. She is from Kansas. Worked for Kansas wheat. I think we made a good choice. She is very energetic and has lots of good ideas. I think we can really get this organization going forward on a good path.”

Scronce will be on the NAWG executive committee for one more year as the immediate past president.

The newly elected president of the National Association of Wheat Growers is Jerry McReynolds of Kansas.

McReynolds: “I just think it is a great time for wheat. We have a lot of things to look forward to. We have challenges of course, but it is just an exciting time. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work not only in the wheat industry but as we work with other commodity organizations and work together on improving conditions for wheat producers and ag producers.”

Wayne Hurst of Burly, Idaho is now NAWG first vice president. Erik Younggren of Minnesota is second vice president. The NAWG secretary-treasurer is Bing Von Bergen of Montana.
