Beef it just might not be "what's not for dinner" at least in " in New York City where several renowned steak houses are now featuring buffalo. The restaurateurs have nothing against beef but they do have a "beef" against greenies and are blaming the green fuel movement for the steak shortage currently facing the Big Apple. According to beef market analysts the production of ethanol made from corn is a key factor for the shortage of prime beef. Since corn happens to be the optimal feed for USDA-grade prime beef cattle, and since sizzling subsidies are provided to farmers who opt to grow corn for ethanol and not cattle feed, naturally, (forgive the pun) the price of cattle feed has skyrocketed. In the end it becomes too expensive even for exclusive steak houses to feature prime cuts or worse, impossible to come by. The steak shortage couldn't come at a worse time, America's love affair with the steak is at an all time high. Red Steak or green fuel, lets leave that up to Sam Elliot to make the call. Beef it's "What's For Dinner" apparently everywhere but New York City.
