When the El Paso Corporation announced their shocking, precedent-setting, $20 million deal with two environmental groups to ‘not oppose’ the company’s planned Ruby Pipeline that runs through Wyoming to Oregon, Western ranchers were shocked, I was shocked and railed about it. I wondered how Idaho cattlemen felt specifically, so I called up Wyatt Prescott, Executive Director of the Idaho Cattlemens’ Association: “It just goes to prove John Marvel’s intentions to use conservation as their agenda of eliminating public lands grazing. They could care less about conservation and I think this form of legalized extortion proves it. public lands grazing has such a huge economic multiplier in the State of Idaho, the business they bring to these rural areas so his attack is more than just on cattle folks, it’s on communities too.” Is John Marvel a wolf in cow’s clothing?
