About Us
Over a quarter of a century ago we began producing daily radio news casts aired throughout Oregon, Washington Idaho and Northern California to keep the region informed about current agriculture and environmental issues.
Uniquely Different
Unlike other communications companies Allen Media utilizes the power of a large radio network to drive listeners to targeted web addresses and we are convinced that internet videos will be a key component for agricultural groups to communicate their message in 2010 and beyond. To fill this growing need, David Sparks heads up our video production division. We are excited to be able to offer our clients credible, well-crafted training, educational and creative video segments for use on-line.
People and Programming
The professionalism and credibility of reporters like Bob Hoff, Greg Martin and David Sparks our network has grown to include over 70 affiliate radio stations with 6 field reporters producing 12 different radio programs; Northwest Report, Line On Agriculture, Farm and Ranch Report, Market Line, Fruit Grower Report, Food Forethought, The American Rancher, Vine to Wine, Ag Weather Forecast, the Fruit Frost Warning Reports and state specific programming in both Idaho and Washington; Idaho AG Today, Idaho Farm Bureau Report and Washington Ag Today. All Allen Media programming, radio, video and television must conform to our company mission statement; “To educate, entertain and enlighten both ag and general audiences.
AGtivists and FoodForethought
Changing perceptions about farming and the 2003 BSE crisis in our region triggered the need to expand Allen Media beyond radio into a versatile communications network focused on producing pro-agricultural messages for commodity groups and grass roots organizations using recognized experts, unbiased spokespeople, print and internet videos to create well crafted pro-ag messages from a neutral trusted source. Tired of speaking to the Choir ? So were we! We became known as AGtivists when we developed 501(c)(3) Food Forethought organization for the Far West Agribusiness Association over five years ago. As part of our creative (that included a pithy column in regional newspapers and a popular daily radio commentary) the term AGtivist was coined to appeal to high school and university students aggressively targeted by anti-ag groups like PETA. The “edgy” AGtivist logo became walking billboards on t-shirts bearing a “pro-ag” message at the University of Idaho and WSU sororities. Food Forethought went on to gain national recognition for FarWest in two separate Agri-marketing magazine feature articles.
